The Port of Portland’s new headquarters building resides on the upper three levels of the new seven-story long-term parking structure at Portland International Airport. The building was designed to be a model of sustainable design and construction with geothermal heating and cooling, sand filters for stormwater treatment, native landscaping, and a state of the art “living machine” for treating wastewater. With its sustainable features, the headquarters received LEED Platinum certification and has received local, national, and international awards.
The Port contracted inici group, Inc. to provide new leadership in managing this complex project. Success included returning the project to budget with over $20 million of value engineering and soft cost management, resolving design issues, addressing the Port’s staff requirements, and repairing the communication breakdown of the project team members to a positive interaction. inici group augmented the Port’s team and provided construction management services, design review, and furniture, equipment, and transition coordination services, and achieved all objectives to complete the project successfully.
