Historic (1936) Oregon State Capitol Seismic Upgrade

Originally constructed between 1936 and 1938 and completed during the great depression, the Oregon State Capitol features an art deco, modernistic design and a 166-foot-tall dome at its center.  The wings of the building, added in 1977, bring the total square footage of the building to 233,650-SF.  Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the Oregon State Capitol houses the state legislature as well as the state offices of the governor, secretary of state, and treasurer.

inici group was retained to provide project and construction management services for Phase II of the seismic upgrade of the iconic Oregon State Capitol.  The design included base isolation structural reinforcement of the iconic rotunda as well as renovations to the south legislative office’s wing and restoration of a portion of the Governor’s suite. inici provided project management services for the project through design.

The proposed project was put on hold in 2015 pending funding.
